River Heights is a beautiful small town, quiet safe neighborhoods, close to shopping, unique community spirit, good water and a great elementary school. We are fortunate for this small city next to the mountains with a high quality of life and safe environment.

Janet Mathews

I have lived most of my life in River Heights, spending some years in Colorado, Vermont, and Maine, but always returning to River Heights, and calling it home.  River Heights is a beautiful place to live; the unity and wonderful people serve as a base to create this bit of heaven so close to the city. I look forward to serving and being involved in helping it stay that way for future generations.

Blake Wright

City Council Member
Planning & Zoning

Blake grew up in nearby Providence, and lived in Logan for several years before moving to River Heights. He and his family have enjoyed living in our community since 1997.

After graduating from Sky View High School, he went on to study landscape architecture and planning at Utah State University. He interrupted his studies to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Japan Okayama Mission. He gained a love for the Japanese people, their culture, language and food. After returning, he completed an undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning and a master degree in Business Administration at Utah State.

Blake was presented in 1987 with the opportunity to put his planning education and interest to work by serving on the Providence City Planning and Zoning Commission, a position he held for seven years. In 2000, he was asked to serve on the River Heights Planning Commission. He served for six years until his appointment to the River Heights City Council, where he has served since.

Blake works as a landscape architect and business manager at Architectural Design West. He has served as CFO and is currently the president and CEO of Design West. He enjoys the projects that Design West works on, but even more so, the people with which he comes in contact.

Blake is married and has three daughters. His interests include spending time with his family, cars, art, watching sports and serving our city. He loves River Heights and is pleased to be able to give back to a community that is such a great place to live.
